Bio
Acoustic Power Venture
As if Steve Earle and R.E.M. fought it out in a no-name town on the near mid-west side of America, Acoustic Power Venture founder Jeff Hauff melds alternative folk-rock with eclectic traditional sounds. He delivers in a voice that shows vast experience and character. His honest songwriting reverberates with life’s challenges while holding onto hope in our constantly moving madness.
Musicianship is in his bloodline, and creating music was born at the piano’s 88 keys. When seduced at thirteen by the six strings of an old harmony electric, his long-lived guitar passion began. The songs explore all colors of Americana and the multitudes of life’s circumstances. His quest for bare-boned beauty and sonic-wonder prevails. He can’t claim actual southern blood but has roots in the dirt of his family farms, An acoustic guitar and mandolin are always “an arm’s length away.”
He cut his teeth at legendary Columbus, Ohio venues like Staches, the Distillery, and the Newport. He drove The Beat Generation with impassioned guitar, then co-fronted the alt-everything band The Suedeheads that ended during talks with Atlantic Records. He then fronted Seven Track Mind, releasing a 6 song EP. Columbus Music raved, “Hauff seems to do it all, blistering guitar solos, hook-like songwriting, and competent front man swagger.” Columbus Alive stated, "The band contributes significant moments of creativity in structure and subtle stylistic variations, such as the alt- country ambiance of 'Hangin' Around' or the heavier drone of 'Rewind Me’’.”
“I’m gravitating toward songs with a rootsy feel these days, except when I get that irresistible rock thing stuck in my head.” Acoustic Power Venture showcases material written over the past few years, weeks, and days. 2025 recording sessions produced multiple tracks ready for release, with many more songs ready for the studio. Singles, videos, and stripped-down online performances are in the cue moving toward the next EP and LP album. There are two archival EP’s preparing for re-release.
He embodies a hard-working life maintaining family and relationships with music still burning behind all the other curtains. He has seen loss. Too many friends, family, and kindred musicians have struggled with mental health, fallen to addiction, and left loved ones behind. “I’ve been broke down, fought through, and gotten back up many times.”
There’s a palpable energy and passion in his performances: “Live music is essential to me because, beyond the studio magic, it is an in the moment, shared, and connected experience.” “ I pray that it never dies.”
